declared lost

25 August, 2009 eiLeen 4 comments

my dorothy perkins parcel has been declared lost, after 3 weeks of waiting (supposed to get it within 8 days) and numerous frustrating phone calls. vpost hotline not easy to call ok? i had to hold and wait for 20+ minutes before i get to the operator and that is not inclusive of the times where i called and cannot even get through!

the parcel itself costs $289 + $23.58 of vpost service = $300+

WTF.

and while typing this i just received their email regarding compensation.

guess how much they are going to pay me?

freaking $60 only which they say is stated under their terms and conditions.

i was expecting full amount ok.

and seriously i rather have my clothes than the money.

the designs are not available in singapore and even if i were to purchase them again now, they may not even be there anymore la!

actually i sort of know that it is lost already, after waiting for such a long time. even the parcel that i ordered after DP has arrived long ago. but when they called to confirm, my heart sank leh. damn sad and heartache. for both the $ and clothings.

really sway you know, that is the second time i use their service and it is because i tried the first time (with only 1 piece bought) and everything comes out ok and that is why i bought so many this time round.

will i use their service again?

i guess so, since this is the only way i can buy from stores that dont ship here.

i think this is an isolated case and as ms w says, they dont want it to happen either.

maybe what i can do is to not buy so many pieces at a time so that if such things happen again, at least i dont lose so much.

anyway, i hope this is the first and last time that it happens!

-fingers crossed-

whos up for the challenge?

24 August, 2009 eiLeen 12 comments

Ive always prided myself as a dare-devil who will (and loves to) take on all thrill rides in theme parks.

But i think ive got to take my words back.

Presenting the Top Thrill Dragster:

(must especially watch the unedited part whereby a camera is placed in the 1st row to capture the whole ride)

Bangkok trip (Day 2 and 3)

20 August, 2009 eiLeen 13 comments

Postnote: Its confirmed! I will be going to BKK again nxt sat! Woohoo! Hahaha! Platinum!!!

Day 2

Today, i woke up with a super achey body!

From all the walk + massage =.=’

For breakfast, we had room service!

I had chicken noodle soup and tea!

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Slide16

Gotcha! Was teh susu and chicken flavoured cup noodles la! Haha! I didnt know instant teh susu can taste so nice! Yums! Because we only had 4 complimentary breakfast tickets for 2 rooms, auntie jenny and family went down while we stayed up.

Today is shopping day! So i borrowed a backpack from bro and brought it over. Then i can squeeze all the packets inside with my 2 hands free and carrying more! Hiaks!

PICT0156

Comfy attire for shopping! LOL. Except for first half of day 1 and the last day, i only brought polo tees to wear! Because i only feel comfortable perspiring (so much) in them.

PICT0160

Our taxi.

I dont know if all hotels have the same service, but ours will take note of the cab’s number so that if anything happens, we can go to them for help.

080820092290

Bored you know, got jams.

Because of the jams midway, we got down the cab and crossed the overhead bridge, walked a little more and on the way:

PICT0163

enjoy the sights of a saturday morning in thailand.

PICT0165

and then we arrived at the 1st destination for the day:

PICT0166

The Platinum!

Woah, this mall i tell you, is so damn shiok, a definite must come when you are in thailand! Even after 3 whole hours in there i still cannot finish exploring the entire mall. The whole place is so big, the shops so small, i think there are at least 500 shops in there. I got confused whether i’ve walked down this or that stretch of shops already or not. Also, this place is a wholesale place so when you buy more than 1 item, they sell you your stuffs at the wholesale price which is cheaper. They sell loads of really fashionable tops, bottoms, footwear, bags and many more! And guess what, i managed to get some of my tops there too! And not auntie auntie kind somemore! Price wise each top costs freaking S$8 only + quality quite good and footwear are selling as cheap as S$4 per pair. I was super reluctant to leave after 3 hours.

Some of my buys there:

Slide1

I think mine kinda look like me, isnt it? HAHA!

And this bro ah,

me: hang up the sign already not?

bro: my own room i know wheres the bathroom what.

me: hang la then buy for you already no use waste money.

despite him saying that,  few days later he came to tell me he hung his up already. heehee. and helped me with mine. LOL.

Presentation1

So cute!

090820092293

So cute!

We then cabbed back to the hotel and had some snacks auntie tik bought for us:

PICT0170

This is the nicest kaya bread i have ever eaten in my entire life. Im not exaggerating, it is so that nice. The bread is soft and fluffy, with the filling so creamy.

So nice that we brought 13 boxes of it back to singapore.

However we didnt know that there is also the brown kaya version. We only knew about it when we came back. I didnt try the brown version – all the boxes were given away so fast (cause can only keep for 3 days)! Mum said that the brown one also nice but the green one is more fragrant.

PICT0202

This is my favourite snack of thailand!

After everyone came back, we went for lunch at the basement of MBK!

Slide17

The huge glass of fruit juice is refillable.

Slide19

Slide18

We ordered so much that we couldnt finish everything. As you can see, the portions were huge and even with the 10 of us we still couldnt finish up. I didnt managed to take pictures of all the food because due to the design of the seats, those seating outside (me + auntie tik) have to help pass the new dishes in and empty dishes out + we were so busy clearing up dishes after dishes because the speed at which they serve is so super fast and the table isnt big enough for all of them. Food wise some nice, some are not. The nicest is the chai po (preserved radish) egg!

After the super full lunch, its shopping time again in MBK itself, all 7 levels of it. Mum and i went all the way up to the 7th floor and shop down level by level.

On the way up, i took a picture with the Queen of Thailand (if im not wrong):

AND AND AND!

GUESS WHICH SUPERSTAR I SAW!!!!

PICT0188

WOO! HAHA!

MBK is more of a mixture of shops like electronics, jewellery, fashion, cinema, just like how a typical singapore shopping mall. Though i managed to get some tops here too but i still greatly preferred The Platinum. More kick you know. LOL.

In the midst of looking for a particular shop, i saw my favourite Baskin Robbins (why isnt it available here?)!

Slide21

Paradise tea and mangosteen sorbet. Im a tea-ish person. And they were super yums!

Since mum roughly knew the way and i dont, i just followed behind her, looking at the shops while enjoying my ice cream when she braked suddenly -> my holding ice cream hand knock into her back -> my body knocked into the cup.

In which i ended up like that:

PICT0198

Scroll up and look at the edge of the ice cream cup again.

LOL.

I then had to continue the rest of my shopping like this:

PICT0199

Hand very sour and numb you know! LOL. Mum was so apologetic about it la. Im so lucky i had just that 1 more extra polo tee for me to change in to.

Slide20

Their tops market is sort of like our market place. Everytime i walked past the fruits, my mouth auto secretes saliva you know? They are that fresh and delicious looking! Especially the grapes.

Acting on a tip off:

Slide22

PICT0216

 Hiaks.

PICT0204

Drank alot of water but never went to the toilet at all. Because all came out as perspiration!

PICT0206

Im always looking out of the window.

Anyway, nothing much to shop also shopped for 3 hours =D

PICT0201

After unpacking a little, we set off for dinner @ somboon seafood, which in my opinion is the jumbo seafood of thailand. But because they have 6 branches, must be sure that you go to the correct one, the branch that my mum’s friends went the other time not nice.

This is the one to go!

Slide23

So crowded, we had to wait for at least 20 minutes before we got a table.

Their famous curry crab:

PICT0222

Slide24

Slide25

Slide26

Damn nice ok! So much so we ordered 2nd rounds.

I wonder why there are different tom yum soups. One is lighter in colour which is sourish and the other redder, not as sour. I prefer the sourish one because it is sour (LOL) and whets my appetite but not the red one because it is full of (spices) residue which i dont really like.

Slide28

Dessert was mango sticky (glutinous) rice! I dont eat mango but mum asked me to try because its really nice. Not too bad! Mango was really sweet and rice was sooo fragrant. But i still dont like mango la. Haha.

Slide27

Must drink coconut juice in thailand! But i prefer those small brown ones. And thats auntie tik!

After cabbing back to the hotel, we gave auntie tik our goodbye hugs because she wont be sending us off to the airport. Shes such a nice person =) Hope to see her in singapore/thailand soon!

We then finished up the remaining packing and went to bed early. All were dead beat from the whole 6 hours of shopping today + those fatigue and ache-ness that were brought over from day 1.

Day 3

Sadly, it was the day to go home!

PICT0261

Slide29

Pics abit dark, please brighten you screen accordingly =P thats my very good and still unspoilt fan!

Because its the 1st/15th of the lunar month, the adults will be having half a day of vegetarian so just nice us 4 kids went down for breakfast.

PICT0262

Then it was to the airport!

Slide30

PICT0295

The return flight was super full too. And there were so many crew onboard some of which were eyecandies! During mealtime, there were like 4 on each side of the aisle? which is like 8 of them? Haha first time seeing so many of them altogether.

PICT0299

Their meals quite nice leh! The fried fish with the fried rice. Yums.

That sums up the whole of my whole 3D2N trip. Actually not really if you count the days, only 1.5 days in fact. Nevertheless it was a really fun trip! I cant wait to go again! Also, thailand is really the land of smiles. The people there are so polite and they greet you not for the sake of greeting just because they are in the service line. You know the hotel staff greeted us one by one when we walked past in a group? We greeted them with huge smiles back, it makes your day to see such nice people, unlike people from that particular place that i’ve said. So big difference ok!

Haha!

Yup, till the next trip!

PS: Earlier on, mum typed bangkoko instead of bangkok, then she sit there and LOLed at herself. Then she asked me over to LOL at her too.

LOL!

Bangkok trip (Day 1)

16 August, 2009 eiLeen 6 comments

Disclaimer: Due to my super-easy-perspiration nature + the super hot weather in thailand, some of the following pictures may be too sweaty for you to digest. Please continue at your own discretion.

After a long awaited period, we are finally going to thailand! This is a pure shopping trip to compensate for the pure sight-seeing trip: http://nitsandbitsofmylife.wordpress.com/2008/11/07/bangkok-trip/

We set off last friday ( 7-08-09) and boarded on Cathay Pacific’s 1.05pm flight.

Slide2

PICT0017

Is that a pilot i saw in the cockpit?

This is a very full flight (due to the long weekend i guess) and so while waiting for other people to board and after that while in the air, camwhored with mum and dad!

Slide3

PICT0034

After 2 hours,

PICT0043

we see bangkok! Look at the meandering river, so cool!

10 minutes prior to landing, i had an urge to go to the toilet. But because we are supposed to be strapped in during the landing period, i had no choice but to wait till after we landed. However, the landing period took much longer than the 10 minutes and the urge is getting stronger. And you know the part where the plane lands and comes into contact with the ground? The vibration makes my bladder go crazy. Then the taxi-ing part also so long, the queue out of the plane also very long (full flight). Finally when we are out of the plane, i looked immediately for the toilet. I saw it but it was bursting with people like how my bladder is bursting with urine  =X   When i walked furthur down and finally reached the next toilet, there is still like 4 people in front of me.  I can almost feel my kidneys bursting already.

Then we began our 15 minutes walk to the immigration counters and another 20 minutes queuing. Do you know that they have smoking rooms in the airport? I think its very creative of them la. I mean, there are heavy smokers who crave for nicotine now and then. If they are outside still can step out of the airport but if they are in the restricted area then how? Haha each room has a limit of 8 pax only (but they do have quite a number of rooms there) and when i walked past it, its like clouded with white smoke can. I wonder if theres any form of ventilation inside. Heehee.

Mum has a friend (auntie tik) in thailand who already helped us book a van to fetch us to the hotel. Wah, the driver parked super far and we had to push all the lugguages and walk in the heat to the van and since the van has already been parked for an hour there, the interior is like an oven already and this is where my fan comes in handy!

PICT0048

But this fan died on me after i used it for the one and only time of 5 minutes  =.=’  The whole thing got so hot that i was so afraid it would explode and so i threw it away.  Luckily i brought another spare one.

The 30 minutes trip to the hotel turned into 1 hour plus journey due to the infamous jam.

Presenting Pathumwan Princess hotel:

Slide4

Very nice, classy and they serve you welcome (longan) drinks! Very nice.

Slide5

We have 2 connecting rooms, 2206 and 2208.  I love the lighting.

Slide6

PICT0069

I believe alot of hotels have see through bathrooms now.

PICT0070

PICT0098

Spent quite some time in the toilet playing with the blind and camwhoring.

Slide8

Slide9

Slide7

Ok i guess i got a little carried away.

Slide10

The infamous jams.

While on the way to dinner, dad had to meet his supplier and so we lazed about in the lobby while they finished up. And mr supplier joined us for dinner too. Did i say that the hotel is connected to a 7 storey famous shopping centre – MBK? as well as surrounded by lots of other shopping centres. Pleasant location!

Dinner was at MK restaurant (7th storey of MBK)!

Slide11

 Cute tissue paper holder.

Slide12

 I love green noodles!

Programmes after dinner would be praying and massaging. Auntie tik told us that praying the 4 face buddha at 9pm is the best. So we decided to shop around there till 9 then go pray. Wanted to cab there but because the taxi queue is so long and taking into consideration the jams, we decided to walk instead.

Supposed to be about 30 minutes walk but because we got lost, it turned into an hour plus walk. We crossed the roads, climbed overhead bridges, walked through shopping centres.

PICT0115

Can you freaking believe 6 cones from swensens cost only like S$10?!?!

We then came to a shopping centre and decided to take a rest and have some drinks.

Slide13

Slide14

PICT0132

Thailand’s fruits are really the best. They are so sweet that we thought the drinks have sugar syrup added but the staff say its 100% juice. Nice!

After drinks, we walked the remaining distance left. On the way, we were on the overhead bridge when i asked mum to help me take a photo with a thai signboard. Straight after, because of my so ugly sweat stains i deleted the picture away. Auntie Peggy, who is behind us then asked me why i took a picture there. I turned back and it was then i realised -gasp- its a hospital! I got goosebumps immediately. I mean the hospital looks pretty eerie (dimly lit i guess) and can see alot of trolley beds out in display plus I think i watched too much thai horror flicks already. I was pretty spooked out – really, the hospital looks pretty scary.

Last item left for the day is massaging! We first walked furthur up to look for a shop recommended by auntie peggy but alas it changed owners already so we walked all the way back to the one near our hotel where dad and mum used to frequent. The journey back is no less sweaty if not more than when we first started. And i was so glad to finally be in the aircon environment when we arrived!

PICT0134

The room is so clean i like!

We all had full body massage (S$16 for 2 hours, cheap hor?) and i took such a long time to change into their clothes! You see, the curtains cannot be fully closed and so i had to keep a lookout at the same time. Then when its closed, the masseuse kept opening to check (one of them actually saw me taking off my jeans =.=’ ). How to change like that? LOL. I had only managed to change my bottom when my masseuse came in and sit down. I then had to asked her to turn away so i can change into my top. then after i was done, she said something to the other 2 of her friends and they giggled at me =.=’

The massage was so painful! Some parts she massaged made me go woolala while some parts just make me want to pull her hair out scream out loud. But it was 95% pain. It was so different from the previous one that i went to. 50% pain only. She used her elbows to knead and some parts got so painful till i had to clench my fists and grit my teeth. I told her its painful but maybe she didnt understand me. And i had the urge to let out gas right form the start but had to ensure it doesnt come out! HAHA! And because i didnt take out my rubberband, look at what happened after she massaged my head!

Slide15

PICT0138

They provided the after massage tea.

It was about 12+am by the time we finished and we had to take a (longcut) 20 minutes walk back to our hotel because the shopping centres which is the shortcut back, are all closed. Before we went up to the room, we went to the lounge to redeem the (4) complimentary cocktail drinks!

PICT0144

Very nice!

That sums up the whole of day 1.

I think we walked from 7.30pm to 1am, which is 5.5 hours and minus-ing off the 2 hour massage and 30 minutes drink break, woah! We walked for a total of 3 hours, which i estimate is a total of 314865306458 km and 80 litres worth of perspiration.

I ended the night with a very shiok nice cool bath!
