Lasik
I’ve been wanting to do lasik since i was like 16? Being an avid fan of novels and the result of not taking care of my eyes properly, i found the degrees of my eyes increasing at a constant rate throughout the years. Now, at the age of 21 and after like 13 years of being 4-eyed, the degrees hover around 800+ each for both eyes, not to mention i have a slight astigmatism in my right eye too.
Now, if i didnt have the astigmatism in my right eye, i wouldnt mind so much if have to rely on contact lenses for the rest of my life. However, having it means i have to place an order (and wait for at least 1 week?) if i want to get disposable lenses, instead of buying it off the shelves straight away. Sometimes if you are going somewhere for a day and night it just doesnt make sense to lug on 2 big bottles of disinfectant and cleaning solution, together with the case, pink and white tablets, not to mention putting on contact lenses for prolonged periods makes your eyes go super duper dry too.
Sometimes, when i put on the permanent lenses and had a long day, i will just plonk myself onto the bed and go off to dreamland forgetting & without taking off my lenses. So by the time i woke up the next morning, the lenses will like be stuck to my eyeballs and un-take off-able and i will start to panic.
Wearing spectacles is not comfortable either. My nosebridge suffers from marks/abrasions and your specs get misted up whenever you come out from an air-conditioned place or when you are having hot noodles soup.
Yeah, i regretted not protecting my eyes. So those who are still having perfect eyesight, protect and cherish your eyes, dont follow my footsteps.
Actually i was thinking of reading up on the lasik process and at the same time check out the prices after exams but while flipping through newspapers and magazines, theres this Shinagawa Lasik Centre advertisement that caught my eye.
So after exams ended, i went to the website and read up on it. I thought it was like pretty good.
I told my family about it, my mum was pretty afraid of the side-effects, dad was ok, while my bro said he will not take the risk. My aunt said that its pretty common nowadays and her relative did it too.
Personally, im pretty afraid of the side-effects but they will go away after months, depending on the individual. What im really afraid of is *touch wood* that i will go blind. Also, it does not automatically mean that i will have perfect eyesight after it. Maybe its just that the operation will lower the degrees of my eyes. Moreover, i have to go for consultation and who knows after those checks, i may not be a suitable candidate for it afterall.
It all just boils down to the pros and cons.
Even though i told my mum that i definitely want to do this, there seems to be something that is pulling me back.
I have 2 weeks plus (till i turn 21) to consider before i make a go for it (21 being the minimum age required).
So, should i or should i not?
WELL! I encourage you to go..
But make sure u can take the side effects eh?
First, go for the checkup.. =D
I think I wanna change to wordpress too..
Looks better leh!
